BNP and garden parties – they don’t get out much

Later this summer Susie and I will go to Buckingham Palace to attend a Royal Garden Party, we’re both very excited.

Everyone else seems to be getting very excited about Richard Barnbrook being invited and bringing Nick Griffin as his partner. To be honest I think it rather sad, here’s why:

1. They will find themselves standing around not being talked to. This is what Barnbrook does a lot at formal City Hall functions.
2. They will not meet the Queen. Most people who attend don’t get to and the Royal’s team of fixers will make sure that the Queen won’t get into any embarrassing situations.
3. Bring your “boss” to an event like this does rather say “I don’t have any friends”.
4. Putting out a press release about the invite does rather say “I don’t get out much” and a quick look at Mr Barnbrook’s declaration of hospitality confirms this.
5. The Royal family are immigrants! Hardly in line with the BNP’s core values.

I like Boris but I think he’s wrong to make a big this about this invite, Barnbrook got elected and will get invites every now and then. If we have a bun fight every time they do they will get the exposure that they so desperately crave.

P.S. I wonder if he’ll wear a morning suit or prove that the brown one really is the only one he owns?

  1. This is not very becoming of you. The way to “beat” the BNP is to show why their policies will not work, not by saying “I’ve got more friends than you”.

  3. I see your point, James and Mr Barnbrook certainly does seem to be “Ricky No Mates” – but I think Boris’s main concern is that no embarrassment should be caused to Her Majesty.

  5. What a snooty little article, more to do with class than politics, I think.

Unfortunately, you are going to have to get used to this kind of thing, because British National Party MPs, MEPs and local councillors are going to become increasingly common, as more and more working class and lower-middle class voters realise that it is the only party listening to their concerns.

Enjoy your teacakes, Mr Barnbrook and Mr Griffin, you’ve earned them.

  7. Fantastic article, James, you’re spot on with everything you say.

I suspect if he ditches the brown suit he’ll merely replace it with a brown shirt, as is the fashion with his kind.

I’m not sure I’ll ever get used to ineptitude.

  11. I agree Mr Barnbrook does not seem to be getting out much according to his listing in the Members Register of Gifts and Hospitality unlike your fellow Conservative Brian Coleman who seems to be enjoying free meals and free shows and free bottles of booze not to mention fleecing the taxpayers of London for his outrageous mini cab bills and enormous legal expenses. It would save the taxpayers of London a small fortune if Brian ‘taxi’ Coleman did not get out so much.

This is just some of the things your fellow Conservative Mr Coleman has done in his time in office:

Spending tens of thousands of pounds on taxis whilst claiming for a free travel card.
Laying on £88 a head meals for himself and pals at City Hall
Leading failed attempts to increase his £100,000 allowances
Telling British Olympic champions that they have the blood of Tibetans on their hands
    Calling his constituents “idiots”
Telling a victim of police violence that she had it coming.

Using GLA resources to warn off his critics
Claiming £10k in legal fees and then lying about it to the press

  13. Good job he didn’t invite Mark Collett then.

I think he’ll have a hard time explaining how he intends to get the Royal Family kicked out of the Country to get some real Germans in.

    xD

It would appear you are used to rapacity as you have not used your blog, let alone your elected position on the LDA, to bring to the attention of Londoners Mr Brian Coleman’s behaviour.

Still, you have mentioned the colour of Mr Barnbrooks suit.

  17. Funny how the vile BNP always start posting on blogs around election time, before disappearing back to anonymity (hence the rather apt username of Anonymous)after taking a beating at the polls.

  19. Good to see that those standing up to the BNP were able to prevent a convicted racist and holocaust denier from attending a garden party with the queen.

It is a shame you were not willing to join those preventing this type of publicity stunt, instead branding the anti-facists as ‘having a bun fight’ and ‘getting very excited’. You should be congratulating these people rather than trying to make them look as silly and reactionary as the real enemy, the BNP.
