Ambassador for Young People

It’s official. I am now required to get down with the kids.

Yesterday Boris announced my new role as Ambassador for Young People. This is an area that I have been involved in almost since the start of my time here at the Assembly, the announcement formalises the work and makes it a bit easier for me to open doors and bring people together.

This means I’m going to be a fair bit busier but it’s what I campaigned on during the election and it is priority for the Mayor.

Wish me luck.

  3. Congratulations!Off topic, but Boris also ran on a crime-cutting ticket. How then do we square that with rumours that he wants to cut the police budget?

  7. James,Please, please, please promote all the good that our kids do, as the government’s anti-youth messages that promote our growing fear of children is one of the great social evils in history. The government and the media consistently portray young people as defective and feral, yet the vast majority of young people are good, decent human beings who are just going through the difficult stage of growing up. Sure there are some scum out there, just as there are some scummy adults out there, but these people are not the majority, they are simply part of that small number of Britons – two or more generations – completely detached from morality, the concepts of right and wrong, personal responsibility, maternal or paternal feelings or respect for the law.
