Another young life lost

Once again I tune into the news to hear of the fatal stabbing of a young man in South East London. 18 year old Rob Knox was been stabbed to death and two other teenagers were injured during a fight outside a bar in Sidcup. This comes just weeks after the senseless killing of Jimmy Mizen in Lee.

Like Jimmy, Rob Knox seemed to be a good kid just getting on with life. I am not going to speculate about the details of this, and as a member of the MPA I will now be working closely with the local police to try to stop tragedies like this happening again.

Once again I find myself sending my sympathies to the friends and family of a talented and much loved young man.

  1. Unfortunately, it does appear as those a disproportionate number of these attacks are in the black community – although the reasons for this are incredibly complicated. Restating official statistics is not racist.

  3. And a lot of rapists are male. Doesn’t mean that all men are rapists or that all black youths are violent. The point about crime is that it offends all of us irrespective of where we come from. As usual, though, it’s the poor that are affected more which is why it is a scandal that the “people’s” party have presided over what seems like an explosion in violent crime.
