Weekend Warriors

Col (Rt) Bob Stewart has written a very interesting article in the Telegraph about the TA soldiers who have been called up for active service in Afghanistan and Iraq.  It is well worth a read.

He will be on Channel 4 tomorrow night at 7.30 fronting a program about the TA called ‘The Insider: Army on the Cheap’.  As you will probably know, this is an issue close to my heart and on which I have written many times.

  1. Am watching Bob Stewart’s docu, lots of good points well made. Don’t expect the MOD to take notice. To many civil servants and military desk jockeys protecting their pensions. Until the MOD is scrapped and replaced with a small and dedicated band of people our military will continue to suffer!!

  3. Part of the probnlem is that the MOD are largely Civil Servants who have no idea what it means to serve in the forces. Add to that Bliar and Flash’s viewing of the Services as easy financial targets to fund their inane social policies, and, surprise surprise, there is a recruitment, equipment and morale problem.Or should that be problems?By the way JC, you don’t need to add this bit, but we are having a Gurkha Clay Pigeon shoot next year near Edinburgh – would you care to come and make a short speech? email temelco@handbag.com
