Lib Dem tax proposals

The Lib Dem leadership have finally realised the folly of their tax increasing policies. Their new tax policies are “very courageous” but they will face three main problems. Firstly the rank and file Lib Dems still love the idea of fleecing the rich (they seem to think that it is the same as helping the poor, which it isn’t) and they are the ones who actually set Lib Dem policies at their party conference.

Secondly, no on believes the Lib Dems on tax.

Thirdly they are still wedded to the local income tax, which will hit working families hard, particularly in the south of England.

  1. Sadly, the Lib Dems are not really proposing tax reductions. The low income earners will just be hit in other areas despite the upfront dropping of taxation below £7000 – which isn’t a very high barrier. They’ll never be in power to implement the policies, so they say what they like.
